Shaun S., Jun 1, 2009, 1:56PM EDTYes the 1984 parallels are frightening. That was some great foresight figuring that the US and USSR might swap roles all those years ago. And speaking of the fellows similar thought around the time of Sputnik I've always thought the space race to be a weird situation. Both the US and the Soviet programs were pretty controlled by their governments . . . but even given those restrictions our more "private industry" approach still won out.

Robert F. protectionist , May 8, 2009, 5:10PM EDTYes, I accept your friend request. Honestly, I am not a Conservative. I'm a registered Independent Of the Lou Dobbs mold
and was even a Green Party member, who voted for Ralph Nader twice.
I also, however, am a passionate defender of the USA and the American people, especially when I see the same things (Invasion, Occupation, Pillaging) that 100s of 1000s of US troops dies to prevent in World War II, now being allowed, with the invasion from Mexico and other countries.
I also, Conservatively you might say, support gun rights (I have a concealed weapons permit), support the death penalty (I think it isn't harsh enough), and staunchly oppose "gay" ie. queer, rights.
Hope you'll check out my future articles, and feel free to comment,
as well as in some of my past ones. I'll look for yours too, and visit in occasionally. -
Jan S., May 7, 2009, 9:49PM EDTGlad to be friends, Charles. We conservatives do need to stick together.
